Plato posits the question of whether human beings are innately good or evil. Plato believed humans are innately evil and become good only through learned behavior. Plato’s idea is founded on the concept of the Original Sin from the book of Genesis. Needless to say, he is one of the greatest philosophers whom I commend due to his well-thought perception.
On the other side is another great philosopher Coelho who supposes that good and evil are within us. Coelho further stated that “Man needs what’s worst in him in order to achieve what’s best in him”.
Whatever you believe is true or whatever closure you end up with is something you have to make up for yourself. Though, what I’m trying to arrive at is simply provide an illustration of simple logic; that we – humans in general have some good within us, either innately or as we learn through kindness, generosity and/or love. And if we follow through, then these innately good within us or these simple acts of good will and righteousness will be magnified.
At this point in time of our history, the world seems to be cruel, so vicious, lots of bloodthirsty people , increasing atrocities between worlds, the never ending feuds and squabbles and the list goes on.
Wouldn’t it be better to divert the spotlight to something beautiful, something dazzling or anything splendid. After all as Gandhi said “be the change you want to see in the world”. I’d like to think that each one of us has one way or another have had good deed on our behalf. And I want to keep believing it shouldn’t stop there, I have high hopes that the ball should be kept rolling.
At the end of the day, all we wanted is peace, happiness and love.
